The year of the Snake has begun!
Prosperity and manifestation beckons! Are you ready?
Dear Friends,
As we step into the vibrancy of the Chinese New Year, I extend my warmest wishes to each of you. This is a time of renewal, a moment to embrace fresh beginnings, and an opportunity to align ourselves with the rhythm of nature’s cycles. The arrival of the Lunar New Year invites us to reflect, set intentions, and move forward with clarity and purpose.
In many traditions worldwide, the transition into a new year is seen as sacred—a chance to honour the past, celebrate the present, and welcome the future with hope. Rich with symbolism, it reminds us of the importance of harmony, prosperity, and well-being. It is a time to acknowledge our blessings and invite more abundance into our lives.
This year is particularly interesting for me, as it is the year of the snake! I relate it to the great Patañjali, who is considered an incarnation of the divine Serpent Śrī Ādiśeśa. I feel that considering this symbolism, the year will be perfect for all of us on the path of Yoga as the blessings of the Snake zodiac will nourish and support us.
As we celebrate this auspicious occasion, let us take a moment to invoke the grace of Goddess Lakṣmī, the embodiment of abundance, prosperity, and spiritual wealth. Lakṣmī does not merely bestow material success but also grants wisdom, inner peace, and the strength to walk our chosen path with integrity and devotion. Her blessings help us manifest our most profound dreams into reality, provided we approach our journey with sincerity and openness.
In our modern world, where there are many distractions, we often find ourselves disconnected from the flow of grace surrounding us. Yet, the truth is, grace is always present—like the sun shining behind the clouds. It is only our readiness to receive it that makes the difference. By opening our hearts with humility, gratitude, and devotion, we create the space for grace to work in our lives. This is the yogic path's essence: cultivating receptivity so that the divine presence within and around us can guide us effortlessly.
As we enter this new year, I encourage you to reflect on your spiritual and worldly aspirations. What seeds do you wish to plant? What dreams do you want to nurture? With faith, perseverance, and the blessings of Lakṣmī, those seeds will grow and flourish in their own perfect time. Let us move forward with trust, knowing that the universe always supports us in ways both seen and unseen.
May this year bring you joy, fulfilment, and a deeper connection to your true self. May you continue to walk the path of wisdom with courage and grace. May the divine blessings of Lakṣmī illuminate your journey, filling your heart and home with peace, prosperity, and love.
Remember, grace is always there as long as we are ready to receive it in our hearts. I am grateful to have so many blessings in my life, especially as a father to wise and intelligent daughters who continuously teach me incredible life lessons!
Namaste!
LUMINARY | Śrī Nammālvār
It’s hard to believe that a month of 2025 has already passed. As we step deeper into this year, let us pause and reflect on how we can embrace its potential with openness, devotion, and purpose. We can make this year truly meaningful by following the light and listening to the guidance available to us—whether through ancient teachings or moments of stillness. This month, we honour the mystic Yogi and poet ŚrīNammālvār, whose profound spiritual contributions continue to inspire and guide us on the path of inner transformation. Śrī Nammālvār is also the first ancestor of the familial lineage of Yogi Śrī T Krishnamacharya, as acknowledged by Śrī Yāmunācārya in his poem Stotra-ratna - ‘ādyasakulapatervakuḷābhirāmaṁ śrimad tadanriyugaḷaṁ praṇamāmi mūrdhnā’

Who is Śrī Nammālvār ?
Nammālvār is celebrated as a luminous figure in India's spiritual traditions. Living in Tamil Nadu at the dawn of the common era, he composed the Tiruvaimozhi, a collection of profound hymns often called the "Tamizh Veda." These hymns are not just poetry but a spiritual call to awaken divine love, surrender, and connection with the eternal.
The Tiruvaimozhi offers a timeless message of spiritual surrender (Prapatti) and unity with the divine. His verses teach us that love for the divine is not just an act but a state of being—a path to liberation from ego and worldly distractions.
In the context of Yoga, Nammālvār’s hymns remind of the interconnectedness between devotion (Bhakti-yoga) and the ultimate goal of spiritual union (Samādhi). His works encourage us to move beyond intellectual understanding and experience spirituality through the heart, where divine grace and wisdom reside.
A Verse to Illuminate Our Path
To inspire our journey through 2025, consider this verse from the Tiruvaimozhi (5.4.2):
"Who will save my life now?
This evil night has engulfed the seas,
Earth and sky in unending darkness;
My heart is in turmoil,
I cannot see the path ahead."
This verse reflects the soul's yearning for divine guidance amid the darkness of ignorance and uncertainty. It reminds us that seeking the divine light within can lead us to clarity and peace even in our darkest moments.
As we embrace this year's opportunities, Śrī Nammālvār’s teachings inspire us to cultivate humility, gratitude, and trust in the greater flow of life. Like him, we are invited to look beyond external distractions and nurture the inner light that connects us to the divine.
May Śrī Nammālvār’s wisdom guide you in finding peace and inspiration throughout this year.
AUSPICIOUS PLACE | Alvārtirunagiri, India
A Gateway to Divinity and Devotion
Alvārtirunagiri is the birthplace of Śrī Nammalvar; legend has it that as a child, Śrī Nammalvar meditated under a tamarind tree for 16 years in a trance-like communion with the divine. Yes, you read that right—a tamarind tree! It wasn’t just providing shade; it became a witness to one of the most profound spiritual journeys in history.
The temple here, dedicated to Lord Viṣṇu in the form of Adinatha, feels like stepping into a time capsule. The intricate carvings, devotees' chants, and sandalwood incense aroma seem to pull you into another dimension. Locals often say visiting Alvārtirunagiri is like having a heart-to-heart with an old friend who knows all your secrets but loves you anyway.
And if that doesn’t make you smile, perhaps this will: it’s believed that taking a dip in the sacred Tāmraparaṇī River, which flows beside the temple, can wash away sins. Who doesn’t love a little reset, right? Think of it as nature’s way of saying, “You’re doing great, sweetie.”

Alvārtirunagiri isn’t just a place; it’s an experience—a gentle nudge to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what truly matters. Whether you’re seeking spiritual clarity or just an excuse to marvel at history, this tiny town offers a glimpse of the infinite in the most unexpected ways.
So, pack light, leave your worries at the door, and let Alvārtirunagiri’s timeless wisdom work its quiet magic. Who knows? You might find a piece of yourself under that ancient tamarind tree. But remember to be a pilgrim, not just a tourist.
DEVATĀ | Śrī Lakșmī
The radiant Goddess of prosperity and wisdom
As February unfolds—a month that celebrates love, connection, and reflection—it offers an excellent opportunity to draw inspiration from Śrī Lakṣmī, the Hindu goddess of abundance, prosperity, and beauty. She is also known as the goddess of beauty, fertility, and royal power. Her presence reminds us that true wealth is not just material but also spiritual, encompassing harmony, wisdom, and gratitude.
Who is Śrī Lakṣmī?
In Hindu tradition, Śrī Lakṣmī is revered as the goddess of fortune and the consort of Viṣṇu, the preserver of the universe. She is believed to accompany him in all his incarnations, embodying the nurturing energy that sustains the cosmos.
Śrī Lakṣmī’s name, derived from the Sanskrit root "lakṣ," means “goal” or “aim,” symbolizing her role in guiding us toward fulfilling lives. She is often depicted seated or standing on a red lotus, which represents purity and spiritual awakening. With gold coins flowing from her hands, Śrī Lakṣmī signifies the endless generosity and blessings she bestows on those who seek her sincerely.
But wait—here’s an incredible, lesser-known detail: Śrī Lakṣmī’s vāhana (her ride) is an owl. Yep, an owl. It’s not just about looking cute (though it totally does); it’s a symbol of wisdom and serves as a reminder of the importance of using wealth wisely and ethically. It cautions against ignorance and selfishness, encouraging us to pair material abundance with discernment and compassion. Translation? Don’t blow your paycheck on impulse buys, no matter how good that new outfit looks in your cart.
The four arms of Śrī Lakṣmī: A life in balance
Śrī Lakṣmī’s four arms represent the four goals of human life:
Dharma (Duty): Living in alignment with truth and ethics.
Artha (Wealth): Pursuing material prosperity responsibly.
Kāma (Desires): Embracing joy and meaningful relationships.
Mokṣa (Liberation): Seeking spiritual freedom and inner peace.
Her whole vibe screams: “Yes, you can have it all—just keep it balanced.”
Listen to this auspicious chant dedicated to goddess Śrī Lakṣmī, titled Śrī-Catuśślokī, composed by the great Śrī Yāmunācārya. This poem was composed more than 1000 years ago. Enjoy listening to it, and allow the goddess of prosperity to grace your heart with all the blessings you deserve.
Śrī Lakṣmī as an everyday inspiration
This February, let Śrī Lakṣmī’s image remind you to seek balance and beauty in all you do. Whether it’s creating harmony in your home, pursuing heartfelt goals, or showing kindness to others, her presence encourages us to live with intention and grace.
Like the lotus that blooms in muddy waters, Śrī Lakṣmī teaches us that we can rise above challenges and flourish in any situation. Her wisdom invites us to transform our lives into something radiant, filled with joy, and abundant.
Remember, you’ve already got the magic inside you—it’s just about tapping into it. Śrī Lakṣmī’s got your back, and so do I. Let’s make this month shine!
Śrī Lakṣmī and You!
Let’s be real: Śrī Lakṣmī’s message isn’t just about hoarding coins (although financial security is a chef’s kiss). She’s all about living a rich life—in every sense. Here are a few ways we can incorporate her teachings into our lives this February:
Practice Generosity: Share your time, resources, and talents with others. Acts of giving create a ripple effect of abundance in your life and the lives of others.
→ "I give with an open heart, knowing that my generosity creates positivity and abundance for myself and others."
Foster Gratitude: Take time daily to appreciate the blessings you already have. Gratitude helps shift your mindset toward abundance.
→ "I am grateful for the abundance in my life, and I embrace each moment with a thankful heart."
Pursue Wisdom: Invest in your personal growth. True wealth lies in the knowledge and skills you develop.
→ "Wisdom flows into my life as I commit to personal growth and continuous improvement."
Mantra | Gāyatrī-āvāhana-mantra
The Sun is an essential natural element in Vedic tradition and is often honoured in feminine forms through the depictions of Gāyatrī (Early morning Sun), Sāvitrī (Midday Sun) and Sarasvatī (Setting Sun). Through these forms, she is honoured as the creator of life, sustainer, and champion of wisdom.
This is one of the mantras that honours her in this feminine form, praises her excellent qualities and requests her to reside in our hearts. This mantra, hence, is invoking the sun to our hearts so that we may also shine with her radiance and live our life with clarity and strength.
This chant is also one of the chants healers would recite before meeting their care seekers so that they hold light in their hearts during the healing sessions. It is also a way of protecting themselves from any dark energies that may interfere with this sacred process.
Listen to this mantra and welcome the radiant grace of the sun into your heart!
