Moon over Ego!
Letting Love Lead!
Dear Friends,
As the new moon's light gently rises, I mark a fresh lunar cycle and a profoundly personal threshold: my first new moon in my fifties. This moment feels less like the beginning of a new chapter and more like the start of a new era—one shaped by clarity, depth, and a quiet but steady shift within.
Recently, I’ve come to a powerful realisation: love is greater than pride. It seems simple, almost obvious, but its truth has landed in me with new weight. Pride can build walls, but love—true love—softens us, connects us, frees us. This understanding is essential in our personal lives and on the spiritual path. Pride feeds the ego. Love nurtures the soul.
We cannot walk forward while dragging the heavy stories of old hurts behind us. These grievances belong not to our true selves but to our wounded egos. They have cost us enough. Now, I believe, is the time to hold humility in our hearts—not as weakness but as wisdom. Letting go is not forgetting; it is choosing peace over pain, choosing presence over past.
This may also be a gentle invitation to reach out to those we have hurt in the past—knowingly or unknowingly—and offer a sincere apology. Acknowledging our impact and extending a hand in reconciliation takes real courage. Yet doing so is not a sign of weakness but of great inner strength. It is a conscious act of healing that liberates the other and ourselves.
Our energy is sacred. We must learn to use it more intelligently and compassionately. Instead of replaying old chapters, let us turn the page and co-author new, joyful memories—ones rooted in love, grace, and honesty.
This new moon calls us to renew our commitments to goals or intentions and become more open, forgiving, and alive. As I step into this new decade, I invite you to walk beside me with humility, courage, and, above all, love.
Namaste

Luminary | Mahaṛṣi Kapila
Mahaṛṣi Kapila also referred to as Cakradhanus, is a Vedic sage in Hindu tradition, regarded the founder of the Sāṁkhya school of Hindu philosophy. His teachings were simple but profound: liberation comes when we stop confusing what we are with what we have. According to Kapila real freedom begins when we can clearly discern between the eternal Self and everything that is temporary and changing.

Mahaṛṣi Kapila
In a world that often pulls us outward: toward appearances, roles, and endless noise. Kapila invites us inward, toward clarity. His wisdom reminds us that the most profound truths don’t cost a thing. They don’t come from outside. They awaken within the moment we’re ready to see them. That the truth of self-realisation will set you free!
Kapila Mahaṛṣi also laid a foundational framework that profoundly influenced many later Indian traditions. His clear distinction between Puruṣa (individual consciousness), Prakṛti (primordial nature), and the implicit presence of Īśvara (a higher ordering principle) formed the metaphysical basis for systems like Yoga, Vedānta, and Āyurveda. In Patañjali’s Yogasūtras, Sāṁkhya's ontology is adopted almost wholesale, with Yoga adding Īśvara as a special puruṣa and offering a practical path to disentangle consciousness from material entanglement. Vedānta too aligns with Sāṁkhya's categories and teachings, even though its focus is primarily on Īśvara as the means of liberation. Similarly, Āyurveda employs the Sāṁkhya-based concepts of the three guṇas and the five elements to understand the body, mind, and health. This profound and far-reaching influence is precisely why Kapila must be honoured as a legendary luminary of the Vedic tradition.
Divya-deśa | Uluru
At first glance, Uluru might seem like just a massive sandstone monolith rising from the heart of Australia's Red Centre. Uluru stands about 348 meters high (that’s taller than the Eiffel Tower!) and stretches around 9.4 kilometers at its base. What most people don’t realize is that a huge part of it lies underground, like a spiritual iceberg.
For the Anangu people (Uluru’s Traditional Owners) this isn’t just a natural wonder, it’s a deeply sacred site interwoven with Tjukurpa, the Anangu term for the ancestral law that connects land, people, animals, and stories. Every cave and contour of the rock holds a myth, a teaching.
In 2019, the climbing of Uluru was officially banned, in accordance with the long-standing wishes of the Anangu. It was a powerful and necessary step toward acknowledging Indigenous sovereignty, and a reminder that reverence sometimes means restraint.
Uluru doesn’t try to impress… it doesn’t need to. It teaches that true reverence isn’t about conquering or climbing, it’s about listening and belonging. So if you ever find yourself standing beneath its vast shadow, just pause. Let the red dust settle around you.
Deva | Śrī Sudarśana
Śrī Sudarśana is not just a divine object; it’s a presence, a symbol wrapped in myth and meaning. According to the Vedic tradition, Sudarśana was created by the divine architect Viśvakarma and gifted to Śrī Viṣṇu as a weapon of divine justice and protection. But unlike typical weapons, Sudarśana is not driven by destruction. Its purpose is restoration. It spins only in service of Dharma (translated as "spiritual duty" or "living in alignment with truth"), to restore balance when chaos threatens harmony.

Śrī Sudarśana
Constantly in motion, perfectly centered, Sudarśana never misses its mark. It's not only a discus, it’s an extension of Viṣṇu’s will and wisdom, a force that clears the path when truth must prevail. Through this lens, Sudarśana becomes a symbol for right action, guided not by impulse but by profound, unwavering clarity.
The divine discus of Lord Viṣṇu is also known for its purifying and protective power. During a devastating outbreak of plague in South India, the great Śrī Vaiṣṇava philosopher and saint Vedānta Deśika is believed to have composed the Śrī Sudarśanaṣṭakam, an eight-verse hymn in praise of Lord Sudarśana. With unwavering devotion and profound poetic skill, Deśika invoked Sudarśana’s fiery energy to destroy not only the afflictions of the body but also the inner enemies of ignorance and fear. According to tradition, the chanting of this stotram led to the miraculous dissipation of the plague, restoring health and peace to the afflicted region.
This event stands as a powerful testament to the saint’s spiritual potency and the protective grace of Sudarśana. Even today, the Sudarśanaṣṭakam is recited for protection, healing, and spiritual clarity, reminding us of the living power of divine mantra and the boundless compassion of saints like Vedānta Deśika.
While you connect with Śrī Sudarśana, listen to this chant dedicated to him, titled Śrī Sudarśanaṣṭakam, that was composed by Svāmi Vedānta-deíka, and is chanted here by Dr Kausthub Desikachar.
Mantra | Śrī Durgā-gāyatrī-mantra
Goddess Durgā is the incarnation of Goddess Pārvatī and is the Goddess of war, who combats evil and demonic forces that threaten peace, prosperity, and Dharma, the power of good over evil. Durgā is also a fierce form of the protective mother goddess, who unleashes her divine wrath against the wicked for the liberation of the oppressed, and entails destruction to empower creation. Many myths reveal how she has destroyed many demons, including the deadly Asura Mahiṣāsura. The day of Durgā’s victory is celebrated as Vijayadaśami.
This is the Gāyatrī mantra of Goddess Durgā. Listen to it 6 times, three times a day, with a bhavanā of reducing your inner battles and allowing your light to prosper.
