Golden Jubilee!

A Milestone, A Reflection, and An Invitation

Dear Friends,

Today I celebrate my 50th birthday—a milestone that naturally brings a time of deeper reflection. As I stand at this point in my life’s journey, I am profoundly aware that I now have much less quality time ahead of me than I do behind me. This realisation is not tinged with regret, but rather with a new sense of motivation and clarity.

It has become strikingly clear to me that the days, months, and years I have left must be spent in a special manner, not squandered in trivial pursuits or the familiar grooves of habit. It is time to step out of the comfort zone and walk boldy in my Dharma, no matter what it takes. There is a preciousness to time that only becomes truly visible when you see how finite it is. This understanding has reshaped how I wish to live—and what I wish to give.

It is from this place of renewed purpose that I share with you two new events I will offer in the coming months. These gatherings will delve into teachings and practices I have not shared before—insights from decades of learning, living, and spiritual inquiry. I invite you with an open heart to be part of these very special events.

I want to emphasise that participation in these events is more than simply attending a workshop or a talk. It is an investment in your own personal and spiritual growth. The education you will receive is designed not just to inform, but to transform. I most profoundly hope that what we explore together will open new doors within you, illuminate hidden corners of your inner life, and help you live with greater depth, presence, and authenticity.

As I step into this next chapter of my life, I feel called to make these offerings count—to ensure that the time we share together serves the highest possible purpose. I invite you to join me on this path and make your own commitment to using the precious time we each have left in ways that truly matter.

I have learnt all these precious lessons from my teacher, my father, Sir TKV Desikachar, to whose lotus feet I bow on this auspicious day. I have also had the great blessing of receiving benedictions from my grandfather, Śrī T Krishnamacharya, whose path I wish to emulate. I also bow to my current His Holiness Śrī Abhinava Vāgīṣa Brahmatantra Svatantra Parakāla Svāmi Mahā Deśika, the current Ācārya of the Parkālamaṭha of Mysuru. I also bow to my other Ācārya Śri Padmanābhācārya, whose grace has lifted me out of my life’s many low and dark moments.

I bow to all of these grand masters who are continuing to shape my life every step of the way, and remind me to offer all that I do to the Lotus Feet of my Iṣṭadevata Śrī Lakṣmī-hayagrīva.

With heartfelt gratitude and anticipation for what lies ahead,

Namaste and God bless you all

Unlike modern psychology, which often focuses mainly on the mind, Yoga—regarded as the world’s most ancient form of psychology—offers a profoundly holistic approach. It sees the mind as deeply interconnected with the body, breath, emotions, and spiritual essence. Through this lens, Yoga provides rich tools to explore how thoughts and feelings influence physiological processes and overall well-being, while also addressing more profound questions of purpose and inner fulfilment.

Offer yourself the gift of wisdom!

Among all of the Mudrās, the Mahāmudrā held the highest place in the hearts of the Yogin-s. For them, Mahāmudrā was not just a practice but also a profound philosophy that held much wisdom. Yogācārya T Krishnamacharya strongly believed in the practice of this great Mudrā each day, and even termed it as the essential tool to master daily death. This Mudrā isn’t just an energetic practice of the Haṭhayoga system but also a great spiritual practice in the Viniyoga Sampradāya.

The Mahāmudrā holds many secrets, waiting for its practitioner to unlock them appropriately, to offer its hidden gems. When appropriately practised with a sophisticated system of breath and visualisation, Mahāmudrā influences different layers of the human system and aids in a deep and positive transformation.

This enriching retreat will explore this most important Mudrā, the Mahāmudrā, in detail, presenting the core principles and frameworks within which it must be understood and practised. You will learn the technical nuances of its practice, benefits and contraindications and its various applications in the fields of health, Yoga Therapy and Spiritual Transformation.

The retreat will present previously unshared material and will be most useful to serious practitioners of Yoga, as well as Yoga Teachers and Trainers who want to allow their practice to ignite their inner fires of inspiration and transformation.
